I like this kind of movies; music(rock)-comedy-drama-whatever.. Anyway, if you know similiar films, I would like to see. But NOT musical.
I have seen Wayne's World (+2), This is Spinal Tap, Detroit Rock City, Rocker, Rock Star... Well, at least those.

I thought that movie was a delightful surprise. Definitely not bad, but unfortunately it got savaged by the critics who called it a School of Rock ripoff.
That one is definitely the closest film I can think of that is the most similar.

There's really not another movie quite like School of Rock. It's a real fun movie that is just as fun to watch every few years as it was when I watched it in the 5th grade. It actually gets better really. The ending is also a change of pace because they don't win the big gig, but they all were better off at the end than the beginning of the movie.

Still Crazy, 80s UK movie with Bill Nighy about a band trying to make a comeback.
And if you dig a bit further, check out Bad News, a UK TV episode from the Comic Strip group from the 80s, which consisted of Rik Mayall, Ade Edmonson, Nigel Planer and others. Very similar to Spinal Tap with a terrible heavy metal band going on the road. There was also a sequel, More Bad News.
Not completely the same subject matter but a film with a similar vibe and ALSO with Jack Black in one of the lead roles is High Fidelity (2000).
