The one that sums up how damaging this type of "education" is to a teenager is Mary riding on her bike chanting "please let it be cancer" over and over.

When you're 17 a cow can seem dangerous and forbidden...am I alone here?

I don't think that she was chanting that because of her education, she just did not want to be pregnant like most girls in that situation.

I think ShizaMinelli was referring to the lack of sex education and the belief that getting cancer is spiritually better than a biological act (having sex and becoming pregnant).

I loved the part where she's watching the movie with her mom and the lady is talking about how she learned she had cancer and mary is like "She learned all that from a pregnancy test?!"
