Right up there with Titanic and all the other greats. It literally breaks your heart at the end. This is like the romanticized version of Memento.

Since it was set in the past, I wouldn't call it a modern-day love story. Especially since it involved people of a different generation – "the great generation". But, it is one of the best romance movies.
Ditto Titanic. Come to think of it, it seems like all the most popular romantic films are either from the past, or set in the past.
