Why did he let let her sit in da Taxi in da end??

I really really luved dis movie.one of my fav romantic movies and in da latter half part,i cudnt stop crying. But i didnt understand da ending a little.if he knew that da Taxi was goin 2 hav an accident, why did he let her sit in da Taxi at all? Was it bcoz he luved her so much that he didnt care fer his own lyf or was it some other reason????

Because throughout the day...the same things happened like on the previous day but in a different way or different order. So regardless of whether or not she did not get in the car....she was going to die either way. The theme throughout the whole movie is that you cant fight fate

reply

Yeah but he was still able to change fate. He did not break his watch, he caught the pool ball, and he closed the business deal. So it is possible to change, and the least he could have done was ask the driver to wait for the next light, or just take the next cab, or just walk.

reply

He broke the watch lighting the fire in the cabin.

That's true in part, but the ending shows that he was able to change fate by willingly sacrificing his life for hers, which means that genuine self-sacrificial love is the only thing that can change fate.

even though Ian died, he is still living in the heart of Samantha. It is my favorite movie and it thought me to love with all my heart and give all my time to the person i love while i still can. The movie made us realize the importance of people around us and how we taken them for granted, time is one among the best gift that we could ever give them... This movie is my inspiration to continue of loving people, to share myself to others and to let them live life together with the moments we are sharing...

The sequence of events happens the way Ian dreamed it, but not always in the same ordrer ("Oliver" becoming someone else). So… someone has to die in the accident. The taxi driver's look is telling : it's him or her, that's the only options v(of course, he could have found an excuse to take the cab without her, but…). I'm surprised that they kept the logic of ituntil the end, especially in such a lacluster script…
