The End..

Ok, i kone it was romantic what he did..he died for her, he sacrified his life to save her, etc..but it was kinda selfish too..i mean, he knew how terrible it was to loose her, to live without her because he loved her so much..but she loved him too, so he died to save her and to save himself for the suffering and the pain, but letting her live with the same pain he had when she died..know what i mean??

WELCOME TO THE RILEYS.

eh, not really. he was always meant to die in that crash. by not getting in that cab with her, he forced her to suffer his fate because of his choices. he realized that the second time around and he knew the choice he had to make. thats the whole premise of the story, you can't control destiny, but you can control your choices.

yea i don't think he knew he was gonna die...

it was a weird movie... too bad either way they weren't together in the end...

Wow that actually never occured to me. I always assumed that SHE was the one destined to die but when he made the decision to get into the cab he was essentially trading her life for his...but what you said makes so much sense. Think I might have to watch it again now!

If my answers frighten you then you should cease asking scary questions.

I don't think it was selfish at all. In the first sequence, she died and they were on bad terms. There was no reconciliation so not only did he have to deal with the pain of losing her, but also the pain of knowing that she died while being upset with him. In the ending sequence, they were on good terms. He had the perfect day and he told her exactly how he felt before dying. She will hurt b/c she lost him, but she can also move on b/c she knows that he loved her. She also knew that he knew what was going to happen, and so she knows that he did that to save her.

"The hideousness of that foot will haunt my dreams forever."

I thought he wasn't selfish at all. It was his last day and he spend all the day trying to make her happy :( I felt so sorry for him in the end because I thought that if he knew it would be his last day and not hers maybe he would do different things, but maybe he would choose to do the same things , because by making her happy he made himself happy. Anyway , the first impression of mine was that in the movie he tries to make the best last day for her and it ends up being his last day :(

The end just killed me. I thought it was going to be the typical "and they lived happily ever after". That truly redeeming himself be could save her life. Instead.. Wtf. Who was the taxi driver? Lucifero himself? The angel of death? They could never win!
