disappointed doesnt even come close

wow. You see Robert Redford and Willem Dafoe in the #1 and #2 slots and you think this movie is cant miss. no way could this be anything less than better-than-average.

Then you watch it. and you kick yourself for wasting time AND money. then you get in your car and you drive to Willem and Roberts homes. and kick them for loaning themselves out to such a worthless piece of crap.

ive honestly never been so dissapointed in a movie. ive seen worse movies- but i held this one in high expectations.

ive never seen a storyline go nowhere. i didnt learn anything the entire movie. Opening credits : Hi! im Robert Redford, and now im dead! : Closing Credits. that wouldve saved me 93 minutes.

bah. go watch Brubaker, or the Last Castle. remember robert for his good roles.

Let me quote from the box ' this haunting story which will stay with you long after the movie is over.

Well they were spot on there and they have really hit the nail on the head because as soon as the dvd finished I logged on to write this review in the hope I can stop some people from buying this dvd.

It Is ' Rubbish ' total rubbish - In fact its a total waste of the main
Actors - Redford - Dafoe and Mirren.

Now if you want to discover why it is ' Total Rubbish ' then just play the deleted scenes with the commentary from the Director - writer and Editor because they talk as if they have made a Masterpiece

They love each other so much they miss the whole Point - its Rubbish - its a complete waste of time.

The Actors must have been hiding their heads when they watched the final film .

Just to wind me up even further Fox have placed three sets of adverts at the start - I don't want to see a load of adverts at the start .

yah i totally agree with you...

the story was non sensical..just let the guy live...you could have worn a mask or something...he was smart enough to get away with 10million of r a while

just watched it on TV...logged straight on to say i'm a bit dissapointed...

no..very dissapointed...

such a weird ending...like wtf...

not wanting to spoil it...but WTF!!!

i've never been so dissatisfied with an ending...well maybe...

feels like deus ex machina all the way...

timeline makes no sense either? so them walking took a day? but the ranson took place over weeks?

wah?

xD

Ye feel the same way... this movie made absolutely no sense...

i watched the entire thing, and now find myself thinking "whats the point?"

love RobRedford and WillemDafoe... but this movie is, terribly dull.

If this was based on a true story, youd expect this kind of non-hollywood eventless ending, but even then it still wouldve made for a rather boring film.

I thought it was a great film with great acting. Loved it. It was a wonderful way to spend my time and would see it again. I am sure the actors were very proud to watch the final film. Way to go Redford, Mirren and Defoe!

if you hated freedomland, you will hate this 5 times more. a complete waste of time. the review i read that made me see it claimed that "it would keep me guessing until the end." well, i guess it did, but it also left me guessing why anyone would ever spend money to see it. DO NOT SPEND MONEY ON THIS FILM. a) you will NEVER want to watch it more than once and b) you won't get much more than 15 minutes worth of entertainment out of it the first time around.

montegomix1...

I'm with you. I have no idea what the naysayers expect from movies. Perhaps they're used to Disney, and just can't sit through films having some drama to them. That it didn't have the ending they expected should tell you something about their tastes. I suppose a good car chase would have livened it up, or maybe a lot of gore. In summary, I suspect the movie was just too sophisticated for these moviegoers.

I just finished the film and I didn't like it either. I'm not used to Disney and I wasn't expecting a car chase or lots gore. What I was expecting was more suspense, better character work, more chances for the actors to show what talent they have and some better direction. Three great actors were showcased here but from this movie you couldn't tell they were acting greats.

Also, not getting the ending we wanted should say something about our tastes? I, for one, liked the IDEA of the ending. I just wish that it would have been shown and written better.

Cinident I agree with you about the ending. They could have made it much more dramatic. Funny but about half way through the movie I commented this was a pretty good movie so far. Spoke too soon. I felt like it just fell off a cliff at the end. I still gave it a 7 star rating because I liked a little more than half of it! But this one will be going into my garage sale bin.

thanks for the spoiler, anything else you said is lost in the fact that you just ruined it for people who might have wanted to make up there own minds. derp

This movie made me appreciate HOUSE BY THE CEMETERY which i had watched a week before. While that movie was stupid, THE CLEARING was mind numbingly boring. I was shocked at how boring it was.

I'll give Redford credit for usually choosing good scripts to act in but as to his own acting well to each his own. With Redford there's always a progressive-left agenda rammed in somewhere, it's always there.
