I love the cheer coaches accent

It was exaggerated, few others, in the film, talked like they were from Texas. LOL

also when TLJ said "this is my happy face," to her.

"I'm gonna leave the smiiilin up to yewwwww!"

"Well okey dokey then! YEEEEEEHAWWW!"

Hail to the king, baby.

reply

Most people from Texas actually DON'T speak that way nowadays.
It's present among the older generations, people older than 55 or 60 at least, but the Texas twang is dying out.
I majored in Linguistics at UT Austin and did Research on Texas English, so you couldn't ask for a better consultant.

reply

I don't exactly think the movie was going for "everyone in Texas speaks like this!"

Hail to the king, baby.

reply

I've lived in Austin for six years now, hardly ANYONE speaks that way nowadays, especially anyone younger than 60.
It makes us Texans look like hicks to those that have never been here.

reply

I believe you

reply

I certainly don't speak like that and I'm a born and bred Texan.
