Might be my favorite movie quote EVER

I am paraphrasing from memory, but Tommy Lee Jones' character tells Mary Steenburgen's character that he doesn't drink.
"Didn't like yourself when you were drinking?"
"No. I liked myself just fine, it's other people had a problem with me."

my favprite was when the cheerleadin' coach looked a Tommy Lee Jones and screamed, "Let me see your happy face!"
And he sarcastically screamed, "This is my happy fffaaaaaaaace."
I crack up everytime...

I laughed the hardest when one of the cheerleaders coos: "You like me, right?" And he´s just like, "No."

reply

"I only need one witness..."

I flat loved this movie. I laughed my a*s off. Maybe the ratings were a bit low on IMDB because you had to be a a bit older to get the jokes. I say, you go Tommy. This one was good.

the drinking line was the best of the hole movie. i have used it a few times my self.

that was a great line with an even greater delivery.
there was quite a few good lines in this movie which were damn funny.

In Spanish he said something like:
First young girl you have to know that I speak Spanish.

Or something like that I don't remember exactly.

I liked when Christina Milian was like "Please tell me this sweet thing's out on parole." But my favorite line in the whole movie was when that one cheerleader said "I don't know. Ruthless killers kinda sexy. I'd give him an 8." I always laugh at that part.

Peyton and Lucas!
...because when he fixed her car, he fixed her heart.

First: I have way too many "favorite" lines tied for most favorite--and I may type some more examples in here later on!

Next: Those two lines ("on parole" "ruthless killer") are probably two of the ones that I HATE the most--I absolutely loathe the whole thing where the girls are going on & on about how sexy the guys are when they're seeing them in a book of CRIMINALS. That is soooo sick. Even if I didn't have personal experience with this (my kid's father was a criminal, including murder, & eventually killed himself, & before that, was abusive to me) I believe that I would find this kind of humor sickening anyway.

Third: I'm just going to throw this out there...don't know for positive 'cause I never made a point of it to find out, but I am fairly sure that I heard her say in Spanish (before he knew she'd understand him) something to the effect of "you're a son of a dog". I own the movie, as it turns out, & will definitely make a point of it to check that line out in person ASAP!

It was "son of a female dog", if you get my drift. He replied that his mother was allergic to dogs.

Tommy Lee Jones' character tells Mary Steenburgen's character
Yah, except Mary Steenburgen wasn't in this movie

reply

I believe you mean Anne Archers character. Mary Steenburgen played Tommy Lee Jones' wife in "In The Electric Mist".

reply

twaddbi, I checked-out the ENTIRE cast of characters, TWICE, searching for Mary Steenburgen's name in the credits. Nada. Zip. Bupkis. I think you have her confused with Anne Archer. My favorite line: In the pool hall, Tommy Lee was kicking ass and taking names. A no-goodnik tells him, "I have to warn you, I KNOW karate." Tommy Lee replies, "you better KNOW something."

"You can't HANDLE the truth!" Jack Nicholson, "A Few Good Men."

reply

I enjoyed the air conditioner. "awful big unit for such a small house." "I get hot."

My favorite quote is that Mary Steenburgen wasn't in the movie. Anne Archer played the role of Professor Molly McCarthy. Anne Archer, as Heather said, is a babe. Mary Steenburgen isn't.
