Let us count the cliches ... one, two, three ...

Apart from the fact that this was a terrible movie, I was also horrified by the number of cliches this movie featured ... let me know if I've left anything out:

* Lead is a beautiful, yet tortured woman
* Sister is blonde, dumb and irritating .. and winds up dead
* Creepy children singing creepy nursery rhymes
* Creepy dolls/toys
* A scary door that something sinister lies behind and against their better judgement, the character just HAS to investigate/explore
* A strange "caretaker" who may or may not be a raging psychopath
* Animals getting spooked (horses)
* Big ol' creepy house with no neighbours in a 20 mile radius
* Weapons of convenience - poker, shard of busted mirror etc.

That's all I can think of at the moment. My head hurts when I think about this movie ...

How about the boyfriend who comes out of his high-rise office, walks up to his immaculate Jaguar (convertible top is open of course) that is parked on the street (in a red zone no less) and proceeds to drive off into clear streets devoid of traffic. Four cliches in one 15 second scene: people in movies never have to a) look for a parking spot b) open their convertible tops c) wash their cars and d) deal with traffic.

Do you really want me to write you an essay. I got the movie - I know it had hidden meanings and all was not as it seemed blah blah blah, it was a bad movie though - I don't care how deep the metaphor was.

She had a traumatic experience as a child, she had suppressed the memories, they resurfaced and she had a tough time dealing with it.

Characters we thought were "real" were imagined etc.

Now do u believe that I "got" the movie??? I just thought it was badly acted, produced and so on. I'm entitled to my opinion, so are you. Let's leave it at that.

More cliches:

* The dopey policeman who wanted to "have a look around". He was literally a slack-jawed yokel. His mouth was hanging open for goodness sakes.

* Scary music, intense crescendo...nothing. Over and Over again.

* Young, beautiful woman who is way too advanced in her career for her age.

* Protagonist clearly in need of psychiatric help but people who supposedly love her don't even think to help her.

* White girls tripping and falling when they're supposed to be running away.

* Speaking of which, AWAY, out of the house, AWAY. Not run up and down the hallway, run AWAY.
