Was this an homage (or a pi55-take) of Cape Fear?

'Cold Creek Manor' is a drippy, tedious film. But it bore some resemblance to the 1991 movie 'Cape Fear' which starred Robert de Niro in a truly menacing role, menace far and away surpassing Stephen Dorff's Dale Massie, who was at best, a token 'evil' person.
However, both films had parts played by Juliette Lewis, which maybe put me in mind of 'Cape Fear'. And the plots, in many respects, were quite similar; a respectable member of city society takes his family to the wild-woods, and is menaced by a figure from the past.In one case, his past, in the other, the house's past.
The comparison, I confess, gave me the opportunity to turn off 'Cold Creek' after the dopey snake attack. It was not worth watching any more....

Cape Fear, both the original & the remake, are both WAAAAYYYYY better than this crap. Love Juliette Lewis in both though, she always rules!
