Why is it ending?

What the hell, why did HBO end the show? In my opinion, it was the best NFL show, but maybe nobody else agrees? Is there some sort of petition to get it back, or is there no chance?

NFL films owns the show, and they have not said that they are going to stop making the show. My guess is that they want to move the show to NFL Network, so that the struggling channel has more demand.

congrats NFL....

I seriously doubt anyone cares about paying extra for your network. Havent you learned from Howard Stern and Sirius that people dont like paying for things that used to be free?

Stop being sell-outs and leave the games on cable. Appreciate the benefits from the highest ratings ever for the 2007 superbowl, with what your own program has called the "greatest catch" and one of the biggest upsets ever. Don't press your luck, I guarantee people wont pay for this network.

I'm stunned and angry...if this is the decision of HBO, or of the NFL, they will (pardon my language) piss off a LOT of people. This show was always BETTER than the NFL shows on every other network, and the fact that it wasn't given a send-off for the whole season and was announced cowardly during tonight's telecast is BEYOND me. I am almost too angry to talk about it, and I (and I hope other fans of this great series will join me) will do my best to let the NFL and HBO know that Inside the NFL is a series that should not be taken off the air.

By the way, part of me thinks this is ONE more thing the NFL is doing to try and make people clamor for the ridiculous NFL Network. The NFL Network is ridiculous because it wants the same money ESPN gets, but for the entire off-season the NFL Network is meaningless to all but a VERY small amount of fans; I'm sorry, but I love the NFL and I don't need all the coverage of the NFL Combine, and I'm OK with the draft, but Mel Kiper and ESPN have that covered. The NFL just doesn't make sense anymore, if they think this is some great way to give more synergy to their network, but the fact is I will NEVER want to pay for the NFL Network from early February (about a week after the SB) to late August (when training camp is winding down) because it is worthless to me during that time. I'm sorry, but ESPN IS more valuable than the NFL Network because it (gasp) covers MORE than just one sport. For one moment, the Cable Companies are right in their stance, and until the NFL Network understands that it is NOT ESPN and accepts a package less lucrative than the ESPN deal, it will continue to NOT be seen by the majority of fans across the country. And until now, when I might miss Inside the NFL, I really didn't care; but if they think I'm going to get illogical and say "I'd love to pay the same amount for it that I pay my cable for ESPN," they don't understand that I'm an intelligent fan who knows the score.

I doubt it's moving to NFL Network. I just got done watching the last episode and they didn't say anything about it.

Guys, get your stories straight. The NFL wants NFL Network to be part of basic cable packages and not have a huge rate hike to include it. All the cable providers want to make NFL Network part of a digital sports package and charge subscribers a higher fee. It's the cable companies that are the bad guys here.

What do you mean about Howard Stern and Sirius and how people don't like paying for things that used to be free?

Since it was announced that Stern was going to Sirius its subscrition rate went from 800k to 8 Million!

They will pay!

I definitely take the side of the cable companies over the NFL Network. I just don't think you should force people to pay for something they don't want. I think it should be on the higher level and people can pay for it if they want it. And I probably would pay for it.

That's what I'd like to know. I thought the show was doing well to begin with. Did the jerks at HBO think otherwise?

No, but Showtime will. It's returning with a new night & time on a new network. ;)
