Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time

Anyone knows anything about RJ's Wheel of Time movie? I've heard they're going to make a movie of The Eye Of The World. We'll see what's that's going to turn into...

unfortunately the last update from them was Feb 2004 :( So it doesn't look like anything is going ahead. Which is a pity, and the novel series was brilliant, and I'd love to see a movie version :)

They are planning to make a movie.....but not until much later......they are however making plans for it as we speak...... I really think that it would be a horrible thing to do to my favorite series. But if they didn't cut anything out, which is very hard to do, I suppose I could live with it. (assuming that they have good actors, directors, cameramen,ect......) It would be better if they made it in the style that Final Fantasy Advent Children was in....even though that would take forever!!!! When I read the books that is the kind of style I immagine it in.....and it is beautiful!!!!

anyone else think viggo mortensen would make a good lan? i know he probably doesnt want to do basically another aragorn type role but i think he would be a good lan

How dare you compare Eragon to Wheel of Time.....Eragon must DIE I hate that book, that movie, and anything else to do with Eragon......do not mention that unworthy name!!!! It is a crime against everything!!!!

But yes, I suppose he would.....I think they would have to cast mostly "unknowns" though, at least for this type of movie.

I love Robert Jordan!!!!

Ohhhhh Light, help me!!! bob_thenoodle is talking about Aragorn (one of the most important characters in THE LORD OF THE RINGS) and not Eragon.

Not terribly likely now, since he died in September while writing the final book. Notice how Dune (probably its closest sci-fi equivalent) has never made it past the third installment after two seperate attempts.

Dune is incredibly different from Jordan's Wheel of Time series, so I don't see how it is the 'closest sci-fi equivalent' when there is no real similarity. I'd say the only theme that the two works share in common is the main characters struggling against predestination and experiencing states of expanded consciousness, however those are some pretty broad themes for both fantasy and sci-fi and countless examples are to be had in either genre.
