baby episode

Why is the guy pretends to be a baby and his "nurse" getting disability?!?! really, that's who we should be giving money to in the current economic environment.

he's obviously lazy as all h*ll or he wouldnt want to be treated like an infant and she was clearly not playing with a full deck. Its disgusting that this able bodied grown man can just sit around and collect disability.

reply

lmao ... I was thinking the same thing! What got me was he was obviously a pretty good "handyman." Not only that, but the lady could work as a caretaker for the elderly or someone with special needs. Someone ought to send that episode to the disability board lol.

lol .. thanks for posting that. At least someone has noticed and is bringing this to attention .... now if we could just get them to pay attention to some of the litigants on Judge Judy lol.

I am going to assume the disability is mental as the episode delved into how he had an abusive childhood and uses this as a means to enjoy a childhood he never had. Not saying I buy his reasoning as a good one to live half your life as if you were a toddler. I personally find it sad. Though as far as disabilities go he is probably able bodied enough to have a job but possibly not psychologically fit enough to take on that responsibility. Thats my guess for why he collects benefits.

reply

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, also - a mental disability ...

I AGREE! It's truly a wonder that these 'scammers' on Judge Judy have the nerve to go in front of the entire nation and claim they are disabled. Judge Judy never buys their act, either. Quite possibly they would not only lose their benefits, but end up having to serve some time in federal prison, too.

lol .. agree! What gets me is when they admit they're doing "work" (physical work) on the side for money when they're on disability for a "back" problem. How stupid can they be to admit that on national tv lol.

He ('adult-baby' Stanley) wrote this in his blog:

When you read all the way down his blog he writes he ended up being cleared of disability fraud charges. Well, I don't know, but I've known people who were far worse off than him and they never managed to get approved. A friend of mine had stomach cancer and his disability claim was repeatedly denied, and he eventually died. Something is definitely wrong with the system.

Whatelse I thought was rather odd from what he wrote was how the investigators asked him how he was able to lift this or do a certain physical feat (during the filming) and he simply told them he was double-dosing his meds during the filming of the show (to reduce back pain). Okay, but how did they know he wasn't lying about this? They weren't there to observe him to see whether or not what he is saying is the truth. Maybe it was, but it's suspicious they simply took his word for it.

Thanks for posting that. That just really irks me ... obviously he's able to use a computer and write a long blog, so why can't he work in the computer industry?

How sad that your friend was never able to receive the help he needed! You are so right - there is definitely something wrong with a system which allows a somewhat healthy young man to receive disability while not allowing someone who is dying of stomach cancer to receive that same help. Disgusting!

' I've known people who were far worse off than him and they never managed to get approved.'

I know the post is 2 years old, but just had to add my two cents. My dad who went blind was denied disability the first time he applied for it. Even though a doctor had written him out of work..he was a cook. My parents had to go in front of a judge and as soon as he saw my dad was blind he was approved. But yet I know a woman who has 'back problems' and got her disability first try. It really is sicken that a lot of people who truly need it get denied and then other scammers get it and never have to work a day in their life.

I know, Bruno...! It's incredible how these scammers (and I've known many) can get away with GAMING the system this way while others suffer and die.

It's good your dad got the assistance he rightfully deserves.

The Social Security disability system is in bad need of reform. They deliberately try to wear people down so they'll give up. And it's now easier to get approved if you have a "mental issue" rather than physical problem(s).

I had a relative who never won (as she lay dying of cancer) until AFTER she ha passed away. Well that really helped didn't it SS?

Those critics who complain about how easy it is to get on it have no idea how difficult it really is. Only 25% (at most) of first time applicants win. On the initial appeal the rate of approval increases by only 12%. It really depends on the region and state you live in.

And finally, your age is supposed to be a key factor (over 50 increases your chances). Once you hit 55 the chances are supposed to increase more and then finally 60 and over increase the odds even more.

I read that the 'nurse' died during their disability fraud investigation. I believe she had a heart attack.
