Loved the gay skeleton

Caught the show with my kids tonight, loved the "skeleton in the closet".

reply

Guess it's a sign of the times because I could hear myself think, "Woah, can they say that?"

Of course the joke was lost on my little cousin.

reply

I know..I was floored..but most of the cartoons have adult undertones if you sit down and really watch them.

reply

i think that a lot of cartoons have adult undertones so that parents don't get too bored watching them with their kids

reply

That may or may not be what they meant. Have you never heard of "Skeletons in your closet" as in secrets you don't want revealed? It's a very old saying and they usually use a skeleton coming out of a closet alot with that saying. When I first saw this it never even dawned on me that they might have meant he was gay, not that it would be a bad thing if they did. But we may never know what they meant by it.

reply

no..it was his flamboyant attitude that clued me in to the fact the writers wanted him to be a gay character. Being in the closet was a nice touch, though. If you watched the second Scary Godmother movie, his "gayness" it toned down, unfortunately.

We all enjoy the maddness 'cuz we know we're gonna fade away

reply

Trust me, if you'd read the original Scary Godmother comics you'd know. The double meaning was deliberate. ;-)

reply

Ditto, I loved him too.

reply

Sorry, but how was the skeleton gay?

reply

In a scientific studies "Gayness" cannot be determined by behavior, so sorry gloomy guss, move ove anti optimist, he is simply a lovable charater invented for children to see the world in a fun and creative way, so contrary to your pitiful belief, Mr. Pettibone is not "Gay"

reply

You're kidding, right? He's obviously gay. His name is PETTIBONE ... inuendo much? Read the comic and you'll see...it's deliberate.

reply

I caught him "boning" the gay housekeeper.

reply

RE: ....If you watched the second Scary Godmother movie, his "gayness" it toned down, unfortunately.

what are you talking about? he was just as flamboyent as before. at the party, he was wearing a leather cowboy outfit, complete with a speedo.

come on, now. stereotypes are there for a reason - the flamboyance, the voice, the attention to detail, and in case you still had doubts, what about when the father vampire is depressed because "queens used to look like queens"? Pettibone, from off-camera, sticks his head in and says "tell me about it" or something like that in agreement with the vampire. it's really funny stuff. and the whole "in the closet" thing? come on now, just loosen up and go with it

reply

I didn't even notice when I first saw the movie! The second time, I was a little offended. (Because I am gay). And the third time I understood the "in the closet" thing. Lol.
But altogether I'm glad they included Skully. Might give kids a positive image.
