I thought Thomas Jane did really good with what they had. Not to admit he wanted the character to be a lot more violent but the people who made it didn't want that. Go watch dirty laundry and see what you think of Jane.

I don't really think you can blame Thomas Jane for the characterization of Frank Castle in this film. He has been quoted a few times saying that he wished it was a more violent, brutal film as opposed to the sometimes cartoony action that was in the finished product. I hate to hear that you don't like the guy's acting, I think he does a very good job with the material he is given on quite a few projects he has been involved with.
I'm just wondering if you have ever seen "The Punisher: Dirty Laundry". It is a short he starred in back in 2012. I've put a link for it below. I think you will like it better, but, I could always be wrong.

And just to set the record straight, I do like this movie. It had some campy, silly moments, but I own it and watch it fairly regularly.

I have seen this movie several times. Definitely over a dozen times. It's hard to find the director's cut. I like the extended version better. His partner getting what was coming to him. He sold out Castle and set his family up for slaughter. One could argue he didn't know his entire family would be killed but he certainly knew he was signing Frank's death certificate. They never air the longer version anymore. Wish they would.

Ray Stevenson was much much better than Tomas Jane, and yet pales in comparison to Jon Bernthals performance. Thomas Jane wasn't even better than Dolph Lundgren. The people who made this movie dumbed it down, Frank Castle is a violent character, a tormented character, and they just didn't do him justice. If you liked it, well I'm glad someone enjoyed it. As an avid fan of Marvel comics for decades, they botched it hard, they rolled a 1.

I enjoyed Frank being a beaten down/slightly alcoholic guy just tending to his boring chores and running into trouble...fine short film and ive seen a bunch of them

They turned that second floor apt complex into a total disaster area!!
Good shit imo!
I also think this has been the best live action rendition of the Punisher so far.
