what a moving film (spoilers)

I just saw this film and was incredibly moved by it. Yes, Timo did some terrible things, but the depth of his character pulled me in. I think my favorite scene was when he wrote 'I raped a woman today' in large letters in the sand and then his wife walked across them, oblivious, to go in for a swim. To me it spoke of his internal struggles, his lack of real communication with his wife, and his growing realization that his connection with Italia might be stronger than with his wife.

I also really enjoyed the scene where he leans out the window and tells a complete stranger all of the intimate details of his life.

Penelope Cruz was incredible in this, but I do not expect her to be nominated for an Oscar. Penelope's performance is subtle and slow moving - not as over the top as many Oscar winners. I must say that seeing her name almost made me not want to see the film - I was so wrong!

I totally agree. I can’t believe I’m admitting this but I’m anything but a Tom Cruise and to be honest I had grown not to like Penelope by association – a terrible thing I know. But after seeing that movie, my views have be some what altered. I now feel the need to see Penelope Cruz in other movies. I feel bad for over looking her before and deeming her the new Mrs Cruise (no pun intended) but now I wouldn’t hesitate to call myself a fan. If anyone would like to recommend any more good Penelope Cruz movies please do!

I loved the movie, it annoys me that most people will not get a chance to see this piece of wonderful filming, coupled with wonderful performanced and maybe most importantly a wonderful story.

Its subtle and moving. Easily one of my favourite movies.

Hi Dangerous¡

I would like to recommend you some of the Penelope Cruz´s films. Almost all her Spanish filmography deserves a look , and she was extremely funny and good in "La niña de tus ojos" (The girl of your dreams), for which she got a Goya (Spanish most important movie award) for best actress.
"Love can seriouly damage your health", "Open your eyes" and "All about my mother" are others of her incredible performances. If you have the opportunity, don´t doubt in see them¡¡¡¡

The film was moving, but not because of the depth of Timo's character ... at least not for me. I thought him selfish and shallow. He has two wonderful women and a daughter in his life and brings them mostly sorrow. His great achievement in life is that he was not indifferent to the fate of his daughter, congratulations, but that's not much, not really.
