Has anyone who has seen this also read the novel on which it is based?

I ask because I myself have not seen this movie, but just did read the novel and upon coming on here to see if the author had ever had any movies made based on her stories was disappointed that this novel was made as a Murder, She Wrote. Not because I dislike Murder, She Wrote but because I can only guess that in that format much of the story would be lost. Thus I was wondering if anyone who as both read the novel and seen the movie what differences there were. Just from looking at the credits I can see that some characters where changed (just as the main character who in the book is in her early 40's is now Jessica Fletcher) and some characters completely left out (such as in the book the main character never knew the deceased but went with a friend who had, and it seems from the credits as though there were only two daughters while in the book there were three (Eithne, Fionuala, and Breeta who were somewhat named after the triple goddess of the Tuatha de Danaan Eriu, Fotla, and Banba and the father calling each of the daughters by the their corresponding goddess name as a nickname). Also I noticed that one of the character's name was changed (Nora Flood in the credits listing was Diedre Flood in the novel and a couple of other last names were changed). I have read some of the early Irish myths and enjoyed the novel because it kept the essence of the myths that it used to further the story. Thus, I am curious how much as altered for the movie although I would expect some things to be changed as it most always is, but did the changes change the tone of the story? Thanks.

I'd seen it and spent the hours watching it completely horrified about what they had done. I get cutting out the cop and his daughter but it was important that there were three daughters.

I am usually tolerant of book to movies (even TV ones) as I know it's a different medium. But this one was one of the worse. "Celtic Riddle" was the first Lyn Hamilton book I had ever read and was excited to see that someone had seen what I had enough to make a movie out of it. And was disappointed in how they handled it.

And the "Riddle" part of it, you know the whole going around from place to place seeing the clues as Lara found them was mostly cut and it would have Jessica getting the note and then not having the audience know what it was she found.

If you enjoyed the book at all don't bother with this.
