Did anyone else HATE Pina? I mean, she was such a bitch! Are we suppose to hate her, because I do. I love the parts where Angelo makes fun of her hair...I want those quotes, but this site has barely any of the sweet quotes from this movie.
But back to Pina. She just seemed so cocky and arrogent...i dunno, any thoughts?

I actually really liked her - she was gutsy and funny and when she gave her 'give me one hour in the gay village and there won't BE no gay village no more' speech, I took that to mean she was overjoyed at finally catching a man. The fact that he was 'bisexuelle' was a bonus. (BTW, just to make my stance clear, I totally thought that Nino was not gonna go through with the wedding, and was hoping right to the credits that he and Angelo would get back together - they had such fantastic chemistry, and I'm sure Nino remained in love with him.)
But Pina seemed exactly the kind of woman that, if a guy's decided to stick with the closet, would be the perfect beard. I reckon he did love her in a lot of ways - he was certainly impressed with her attitude (and her car?) and in the end he wanted the respect of his bigoted community more than he wanted Angelo.
I hated Pina too. When she caled Angelo "the fag" from school, I was sishing someone would knock her out. But I liked at the end when you see Nino continue to "GO CAMPING". He stayed with her for show and was totally in the closet.

The acress who played Pina, Sophie Lorain is a French Canadian actress who is the daughter of icon Denise Filiatreau (comedienne, writer, producer director). Ususally Sophie Lorain is an extremely good actress but I feel that didn't show through in the role of Pina.
Years ago she was on a very provocative tv series where she had to do a very erotic love scene. The actress refuses to do any nude scenes (at least that's what I've heard) so she did the love scene fully clothed. That was one of the most erotic love scenes I've ever seen, proving that if the actor is good enough they don't have to get naked to make it extremely erotic. Excellent actress!!!

She was very funny and the actress very good, but she's supposed to be a bitch.
So much so that in the extras, there is a scene where she is very vulnarable and very likeble and they took it out of the movie. When you see that scene you stop hating her and then the caracter does`nt work anymore...

You know what I noticed about Pina is her name. There's a scene when Nino's mother is bragging about the wedding to Angelo's parents and she's says Pina's wedding dress, blah blah and it soudns like penis right? Just thought it was funny that Nino ends up with a girl named Pina, a name that sounds like penis sometimes...I don't know..I'm just weird I guess.
