question about end...SPOILER

please stop reading now if you haven't seen the movie!

after jena malone burns down the barn and drives away...they show the farmhand walking around, and the radio (or t.v.) is saying something about the incident...but i can't make out what they're saying, because the music drowns it out. what are they saying? i heard some mention of muncie.

The news said that the senator was the father of her baby. Also the camera shows the weed still growing in the ground.

"AgriMead Industries which makes the corn is seeking a restraining order, arguing that Miss (mumbled) stole company documents and violated her confidentiality agreement by talking to the press. But the latest disclosure that she has an actual sample of the weed adds a new twist. She has also produced a photograph of the corn, which, oddly enough, featured state senator Muncie (last name mumbled)."

I assume the person is the lab scientist woman at AgriMead who received the envelope with the weed sample and stuffed it in her own bag. It doesn't say anything about Muncie being the father, just that he was in the photograph. I figure maybe she got a photograph of the ranch and corn when Muncie and the AgriMead guy were there, or Muncie just decided to add his weight to an investigation.

The weed still growing at the end is at a shack with a few sheep and, I think, the nice guy who worked on the ranch and asked Jena out. I expect he was keeping the weed growing to feed his sheep to get extra wool, and of course to leave open the possibility that the weed is still growing out there somewhere (I don't really expect a sequel).

Haha! Corn 2: Return of the Maniacal Sheep

Seriously though, I listened to that last bit a few times over and over and couldn't make it out enough, so thanks for that quote. I may watch this again, and try to notice little things bearing in mind the conclusion this time.

This one is so far my third favorite Jena Malone movie, of the four I've seen so far.
