To be honest, i watched this movie yesterday night on TV, but can't even remember the ending. I can remember the phone call to the old man who gets pretty angry when he hears that the was two times totally drunk. Ok there was a western guy who danced with his friends abit.
I couldn't understand this, just explain to me, im not though stupid :-)

Ich hab den Film gestern gesehen und fand ihn großartig (das nur am Rande).
Am Ende sitzt die Hauptdarstellerin am Bahnhof und diese polnischen Cowboys spielen auf ihren Instrumenten.
Sophie ist das wohl zu blöd und sie geht am Bahnsteig lang, wo gerade ein ICE einfährt.
Gegenschnitt auf den Cowboy, der sie ansprach - Gegenschnitt - Sophie ist weg.
Der Cowboy blickt auf die Gleise und man denkt als Zuschauer: Jetzt hat sie sich vor den Zug geworfen und ist so tot wie ihre Fehlgeburt.
Aber sie liegt nur neben den Gleisen.
Der Cowboy steigt auf die Gleise runter, dreht sie um (sie ist unverletzt).
Sie öffnet die Augen.

I don't think that was Josef's question. We know all that, we watched the film. The question is about the meaning of the end. My personal view of it is that surviving a suicide attempt is a kind of climax in Sophie's life which makes her stronger. It's kind of being born again, and I say that because of the way she looks at the final take: peaceful, optmistic, confident. I believe most of the audience sees it like that! And the fact that the audience has no doubt that she died, but indeed she didn't, is a proof that against all odds Sophie's fate is to live longer and live a full life.
