i saw it a while ago with my parents so i wont be much help but i will post something anyway...

the ending is weird, not sad...they show the horses view while racing and fades out to black...they dont show the horse dying, i think...

what is sad is when they are trying to shoot a horse and one of the main characters takes him in.

other than that...

Despite the broken leg Red still rides Seabiscuit. At first he starts losing and everyone over takes him but then he catches up and wins the race! Wonderful film!

Yeah, but did he really win?

I mean, Red raises his arm in triumph - but we don't see 'Biscuit actually crossing the finish line first... it just sorta fades out to black.

This ambiguity really annoys me.

It wasn't at all ambiguous. Red raises his arm in triumph after crossing the finish line.

Seabiscuit really did win the Santa Anita Handicap in his last start in 1940.

I thought the very same thing. Did he win or what?

I guess he did. There should've been some kind of after story - in that documentary fashion that parts of the film were. What became of the horse and rider?

reply

He won. It was Seabiscuit's last race and he went out on top.

read the book, all of that is explained in detail...

really? or you can't even use a search engine?

are you helpless?

reply

Seriously?? Of course he won. Did the hands in the air mean he finished 3rd?

reply

I think that the movie is sensitively made for animal lovers. It's slightly harrowing at times but no deaths.
