why should there be a twist?

I saw this movie, and I liked it a lot. I'll be the first to accept that it isn't groundbreaking. Nothing about the movie is, but I enjoyed the story, and I really enjoyed the fact that it didn't have a stupid twist at the end. I'm tired of movies having 5 twists before the ending. That, in my opinion helped the movie.

Why? Because it would have made the ending a little less dull and obvious. During the whole movie I was trying to determine whether the film suffered from a much too arty, lacklustre script or from the style of direction. By the end I was certain it was the script. With drama properly played out, the twists would have arrived naturally, like they do in any good movie. Here, it just fizzled out with nothing more to say and none the wiser, really. Disappointing.
