I like it! It seems to be a lot more true to the older college age murder mysteries than the very first Drew books. Also, it's truer to the books than the new Nancy Drew movie with Emma Roberts. I really like Maggie Lawson. She's great in Psych - she plays a similar role.

I thought it made a really great pilot to a television series entitled "Nancy Drew," starring Maggie Lawson. It introduced the characters well, particularly plucky and daring Nancy. It also established the very beginning of some conflict arcs, like Nancy's relationship with Ned, her father, and the choice between succeeding as a college student or as an investigative journalist. At this pace, over a 22 episode season I'm sure that all of these would be excellently developed and resolved.

As a movie? Yeah, it was unfinished, undeveloped, and pretty much sucked.

loved it. I agree that it would have been a good start to a series. Butit was alot truer and should be better loved by the fans than the emma roberts junk.

I liked it, but I haven't seen it in a while.

And yes, I agree, the new Nancy Drew movie with Emma Roberts disgraced the good name of Nancy Drew.

I agree. It's a shame they dropped the ball and didn't order it to series. It would've been better than "Veronica Mars"!

It certainly wasn't perfect, but over all I liked it. It was fun, and the Nancy Drew in this one really had a lot of independence and what I thought, was necessary attitute and assurance. Plus, it finally showed Nancy as not perfect. She was a bit proud, but it rumbled her in the end and she learned. She got a bit cocky, but got taken down. The only drawback I found was that George's roll was messed up. I haven't read any of the books in a while, but George as I remember, was always teh one ready to help out and work on a mystery, and BEss was always holding back. George didn't do much on the case, though she was still my favorite.

It was cute but not real exciting...I felt like I didn't understand what the story at the end was and the whole movie felt like there was a part missing, as if this was a sequel and i didn't have the back story. Is this a sequel?

reply

It is a "sequel" only in that the characters are based on a series of books, so the movie did expect that the audience "sorta kinda knew" enough about Nancy Drew and her friends from their pre-college days and previous sleuthing adventures.
