The Love Story

It was a different experience to watch a romance develop, knowing that there was no way that the couple would be able to be together. Was I wrong to think this? In modern India, is it possible for a couple like this to be together? Or would she lose custody of her son if she chose to divorce her husband, something I could not see her allowing. Are there marriages between couple from their respective backgrounds that would be acknowledged by the family at large? Anyone know?

I'm not certain about India, but in the Middle-East there wouldn't be a problem with his family recognizing the marriage since the male is seen as determining the religion of the family (I don't know how her family would react). But if it were a female Muslim marrying outside the religion then in some countries she could become the target of an honour killing by members of her own family. In either case you can practically guarantee the child would go to the father.

Possible though very improbable. despite of of the globalisation phenomenon in India there are still deep rooted beleifs and fears . divorce, custody hmm
not probable . diff backfground marriages. mostly seen in urban areas though in some parts and even in some cities there are killings due to inter- caste fotget even inter-religious marriages. most couples rum away or go to the law for protection . despite a lot of corruption in quite a few cases like these protection is given.....
