Babies can be tricky - taking care of their moods during the shoot, their body cycles, reacting to the unknown crew hovering around them - lots of things can make or break the film. When you get a baby like this, you can only call it a blessing + excellent directorial capabilities.
Many viewers go ga-ga over technical amusements of the director, but handling humans (and especially ) babies to get such quality work done is EQUALLY impressive. And Aparna Sen has done this time and again.
Have you noticed, the baby has special affection for Rahul? The crying, crankiness disappeares the moment Rahul takes it.
I can't imagine this film with that baby actor.
