Tamil + Bengali 'Couples'? Small details.

This might be a little off topic, but I just finished watching 15 Park Avenue, another of Aparna Sen's films with Konkana Sensharma in it.

In that film, there is a family with a Tamil wife and Bengali husband (was not a big part of the plot, though). In Mr. and Mrs. Iyer, we know, there is a Tamil woman and Bengali man acting as a couple. That was a big part of the plot.

I was wondering if there was any significance to this pairing in Aparna Sen's films? Or was she just trying to 'mix it up' a little? I've been really curious about this....

Last Watched: 15 Park Ave.; Reading: A Yankee in King Arthur's Court; Now: Should do HW!

I think it's just a coincidence, but I'm not sure. I have seen only three films by Aparna Sen: 36 Chowringhee Lane, Mr and Mrs Iyer, and 15 Park Avenue. If I remember correctly there was no Bengali-man-Tamil-woman-couple there. I guess someone who has seen most (if not all) of Aparna Sen films can better answer your question. Let's see if this occurs in Aparna Sen's upcoming films The Japanese WIfe and Iti Mrinalini also.
