Favourite scene

Watched it again for the second time and this time, I liked it even more.

My favourite scene in this film (which I rated 9/10 BTW) is the one where the college girls surround Raja and Meenakshi and thinking that they are married and are Mr. and Mrs. Iyer; ask them to narrate their story- how they met, fell in love, got married, went on their honeymoon, etc

Rahul Bose is GOD in that one scene- I just love it when, in response to being asked where they went for their honeymoon, he says something like-

"We lived in a tree house, by the way. For a whole week. In the middle of the tropical rain forest. And from the window, we could see the elephants, the mothers teaching the young ones how to swim. I got great shots from my window that day. And Meenakshi and I lit lamps all around the Chidambaram temple at twilight. It is one of the loveliest sights in the world. And some other times, we sat in the balcony, sipping red wine. There was no electricity so we ate by the light of little oil lamps unless of course there was a full moon. We didn't really need the lamps, did we Meenakshi?"

The above monologue is breathtakingly enacted by Rahul. Especially when he says the sentence (and the camera closes in on him) in italics above- "I got great shots from my window that day"....ah, there's such a lot of remembrance, poignant wistfulness, longing, an understated pride and an unexplainable sadness in what he says. For me, it suggests that he was not alone when he took those photographs. There was someone with him. Notice how he never answers this question when Meenakshi asks him about this later. Such a lot left unsaid. Beautiful.

I love the climax of course...... "For you"......MAGIC

My favorite scene(s) from this film would be pretty much EVERY single scene after the first 20 minutes or so are done with (The introduction of the characters in the bus). This movie is a Masterpiece IMO.

Late to the game, OP, but I though I'd share.

Hmm, favorite scene?

I guess it would have to be when Raja and Meena are out on the forest cabin's balcony. Now this is paraphrasing: he asks what her husband does, and she in an almost flirty manners says, "Why, he's a wildlife photographer." Then he mentions how when he was younger, he found girls who wore bindis (like Meena ) beautiful. Just... gah, that whole scene is a cute moment before the shocker happens.

When Raja is resting in that serene forest background ; just before another riot ,trying to work out right words to describe what happened in journey.
You get a glance at what he came up with ; such beautiful yet horrific,cringe-worthy lines which just sends shivers down your spine. You need to watch movie to get what this actually means.

"Pair of dentures lies in hideous grin next to their broken case ..."
