I don't think that one can say that the French hate the Arabs. It would be like saying that all white Americans hate African Americans.

In 1960, it was not complete new but anyway strange to have Arabs in France. this due to the hard conditions in France' colonies (like Algeria).

There will always be racial conflict due to ignorance on both sides and the legacy of colonial period. But I'm sure there are friendships as well. No country is perfect. I heard that the Algerian pop music rai is very popular in France. I'm sure the younger generation is more accepting then their elders, but that's nothing new.
