The Sword

I'm a newbie where "Bollywood" films are concerned, but can someone tell me the significance of Prem being handed a sword at the end of the movie? I really enjoyed the film and soundtrack. Have bought both of them for my personal library. Would love to see more English-language "Bollywood" films. Controversal as he may be, I'm also a new Salman Khan fan.
