Either the lake was shallow enough to walk across, or it wasn't.

So, when she's five feet from shore, on the raft (a cheapie blow up raft anchored with a heavy chain, just fyi), and her husband is able to walk/carry her out there, she is then SIX feet from shore, and the camera pans from underneath her at like 15 or 20 feet of depth, with no lake bottom in sight. Okay.

I also like how quickly and easily they could both negotiate swimming that lake, fully clothed, with dry hair. Especially her, since she was water phobic and couldn't swim. It was a miracle!!

I swam competitively for 13 years, have lifeguarded, taught swim lessons, etc, and I seriously doubt I could have crossed a football field worth of deep lake with a heavy chain wrapped around my ankle (dragging through debris on the lake floor) OR swam so quickly a lit cigarette remained in my mouth the entire time.

They're coming to get you, Barbara!
