would you leave him like that?

i certainly would not. my concience would eat me from inside. also he didn't seem so bad, she just wasn't the right type of woman for him.

reply

I just finished watching the movie and I totally agree with you. As much as he had hurt her, it I was Julianne I wouldnt have left him there. He didn't seem all that bad just a little insecure.

reply

Didn't seem all that bad? Are you kidding me? He STALKS her, tries to CONTROL every aspect of her when they're on the "island". Chains her up, beats her, decides how THEY're going to live their lives WITHOUT any consideration of what SHE wants. Steals her birth control, LIES to her. KILLED his father, was a complete PSYCHO...she let him off EASY in my opinion. She could have stooped to his level and killed him, but as she said, she couldn't "set him free", he had to do it himself.

reply

yeahhh i agree with you.
he wasnt just insecure he would have killed her. he's psychotic.

reply

Okay please tell me you two are kidding. He had her chained up to a tree and he was strangling her, and if this were real, he would have not quit until he was successful at killing her.

reply

i know, but still she shot half of his hand and left him like that. that was more then cruel. and if this was in real life i doubt that anybody would act like her - leave your badly wounded husband. he was not the kindest guy but i think that any normal person would try to help anybody in such a condition and not leave him bleeding, even if it's your worst enemy.
just my opinion. agree or not?

reply

I totally agree. As much as he hurt her he seemed, deep down to love her. I couldn't have left him there, I probably wouldn't want to still be married to him when we got off the island but I wouldn't have left him there.

reply

especially when she gave him the gun to kill himself. he was her husband, if a woman ever loved her husband she'd never act like that.
that's the fault of the screenwriter, s/he didn't think very deeply

reply

At the end, did she say that she loved him. If she did, I totally missed that. Seriously if she didn't say she love him, why would you really think that she still loves him. He did all that crap to her. Even if she did say she loved him, I'm sure she didn't mean it.

After I got to Sin City, all the color came back.

reply

i said if she ever loved him. if no, why then she married him?

reply

some people can fall out of love in a marraige. Especially when their husband does crap like that.

After I got to Sin City, all the color came back.

reply

I don't know if I would've left him like that but when she walked away maybe she was going to tell someone where he was and that he was hurt or maybe dead. I can't believe that anyone WOULD THINK THIS GUY WAS NORMAL IN ANY WAY! HE WAS NUTS! I MEAN HE HAD STALKED HER BEFORE HE MET HER! HE CHAINED HER UP AND KEPT HER ON THE ISLAND AGAINST HER WILL! I MEAN THIS IS A STORY ABOUT ABUSE FOR GOD SAKES! I DON'T THINK ANY WOMAN SHOULD OR WOULD DEAL WITH THIS GUY OR THIS TYPE OF ABUSE! It's not a question of falling out of love, it's the way he treated her! He was a real psycho! Yes Kansasbugg people usually do fall out of love in a marriage after being abused. It usually happens that way. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HER NOT BEING THE RIGHT WOMAN FOR HIM BECAUSE NO WOMAN SHOULD HAVE TO PUT UP WITH ABUSE!

I mean the guy wanted to actually raise a family on that island and that's not a realistic thing to do. I mean if they wanted to visit there, that's fine but not live all the time there!

reply

I just want to add that someone asked why she married him and I say it's because SHE DID LOVE HIM IN THE BEGINNING, HE SEEMED NORMAL BUT THEN HE TURNED PSYCHOTIC AND ABUSIVE AND THAT'S WHY SHE DIDN'T LOVE HIM ANYMORE! I DON'T THINK THIS GUY DESERVES ANY SYMPATHY AT ALL! It just goes to show that when you marry someone, you think you know the person but sometimes you may find out pleasant or in this case unpleasant things about that person that you didn't know prior to marriage. I really think that he had it planned all along to live on that island. It was like he really had an agenda.

reply

if she had tried to help him he would have stabbed her! dude some people r so psychotic u cant help them. also i have a question. why did she leave the gun with him? he could have shot her!
i mean it was still loaded. remember when she gets out of the lake you can hear a gunshot at the end. i think he shot himself but why would she leave the gun with him?

reply

Act like her? Did you watch the movie? He abused her - physically and mentally - forcing her against her will to stay in a shack in the middle of nowhere not able to call her mother or anyone. That is called domestic abuse and he got what he deserved, frankly she should have beat him more with the tree stump at the end. I know I would have done the same.

wow! u cant b for real. i would of poured gas on him
and set him a blaze, to boot! i can only guess, u get abused regularly
and sadly find a way to blame yourself. women like you
are a sad disservice to all of womankind. SEEK HELP!!

reply

my advice, don't date. the dude was insane.

reply

I'd leave him there in a heartbeat. I might make an anonymous call to the police, but there is no way I'd stay with a psychotic killer.

reply

OH please! He was going to kill her. He just wanted to torture her. A little insecure? I think you're a little COMPLETELY thinking too positive. Would you just go like "Oh baby sure I'll forgive you even though you want me to stay in that ugly little shack in the middle of a gigantic river and never see my family ever again!"

He Stalked her, killed his own father, tried to chain her up and then at the end he cut her face and still got mad at her just for saying that she hated him. What the Hell? Poor guy, my foot! Would you seriously be a prisoner surrounded by what you were afraid of? Imagine just knowing he's a fuse about to blow. He didn't need any sympathy. He needed to be institutionalized! With miles of lead around him.

reply

I wouldnt have gave him the gun so he could kill himself. Instead i would have just left and let the police deal with him. I mean think about, so she goes back to town and tells this story that her husband had taken her prisoner so she killed him? It just wouldnt add up. His leg was in a bear trap. He wasnt going to go anywhere. Although, it did seem like you could never hurt the guy. He always got up.

reply

Survival instincts are a strange thing.

Once she moved past the idea that she had stopped him, with the trap and the shot, she had reached her goal of survival. Now, what to do with Mitch?

Moving past the concept of 'survival' she couldn't deal with 'finishing him off'; she didn't have *that* in her. So, let him do it himself.

Her focus then turned from his problem to her getting off the island. She slipped back into survival. After on shore, the gunshot, the cigarette--out of survival and back to 'moving on'.

reply

To the first two posters, you obviously have never been abused. I would have blown his ass away and left him dead. But first I would have chained him to a tree and did everything he did to me back to him ten fold. By the time I pulled the trigger he'd be praying for death from the pain. Ive lived that life and It sucks. He deserved worse than being left there.

reply

I agree. I believe he shot himself at the end..I wouldn't have left the gun there for him to escape his misery. I would have left him there to think about everything while he suffers in pain and agony and bleeds out.

reply

although, he is crazy.... the actor is cute... but, i would leave him there in a heartbeat.

reply

I think she had to do what she did. He would have killed her if she had been kind to him. she left him a gun so he could kill himself instead of starving to death. Good riddens to bad rubbish.

I don't know if I would leave him or not. In my opinion it's one of those things that you can't say yes or no to unless you're actually in that situation.

Get busy livin' or get busy dyin'

reply

I wouldn't have left him there, i'd have stayed and watched him shoot himself. You people are crazy! How could he not deserve it? I would have done alot worse than what she did. I probably wouldn't have been stupid enough to rush into a marrage and go to a deserted island with someone unless i knew a thing or two about them though.

reply

are you people serious? he kidnapped her..look up the definition if you don't agree. Also, he shackled her to a tree like a dog and mentally and physically abused her. why would anyone have a guilty concience about leaving him like that.

OP has got to be kidding. I just re-watched this movie and hell yes I would've left him like that. I probably would've knocked him out earlier, given the chance. He got what he deserved. He was an abusive, psychotic nutcase and had she freed him he definitely would've killed her. He didn't hesitate to beat the hell out of her for no reason so what's stopping him from actually killing her after she shot him and beat him with a tree trunk? She had to leave him there or she wouldn't have made it off the island.
