What if... Freddy vs. Jason in 1993?

Why did New Line go through with another sequel, rather than giving us Freddy vs. Jason asap? I still think it was pointless and totally unnecessary to do a ninth movie only to set up FvJ when it could've been completely avoided altogether.

Why go through with an entire film that doesn't even feature Jason, except for the very beginning and end, and ends up with Jason being dragged down into hell? I mean wasn't he already dead at the end of Part 8?

It actually ended with no surprise or tease of him alive. What makes matters worse is that he's just up and walking after being melted away by toxic waste with no explanation as to how he managed to come back to life this time. At least the other sequels showed him being brought back to life before he starts killing again and to top it all off Part 9 was terrible.

A lot of fans refuse to accept this but it's what I'm going by. It's pretty common knowledge that Sean F. Cunningham who was the one who made the first Friday the 13th movie, hated Jason becoming the main antagonist of the series. So when he was asked to produce a Friday the 13th movie, New Line somehow didn't know this. So he had Adam Marcus and Jay Hughley write a movie that wasn't about Jason. It was going to be a direct sequel to the first about some relative of Jason going insane over his and his mother's death and getting possessed by a demonic force.

They started the production and started filming the movie. But then New Line found out that the movie didn't have Jason in it and ordered them all to rewrite and refilm the movie to include Jason. So then we ended up with the bizarre movie we got with Jason goes to Hell. The people in charge of the movie refuse to admit this though because it makes them look bad. They should've gotten someone who liked Jason be the producer and actually done research before hiring Sean F. Cunningham to produce. But history is history. By the way, I like Freddy Vs. Jason and I am glad it was made. Even if there are some inconsistencies with Jason's movies in it.
