When the annual "parent's day" hits Nearburg, catdog are reminded that they have no parents.

Dog believes their parents are trying to find them but have been unable to do so because of events that are beyond their control e.g: Being stranded on an island with rabid weasels and hundreds of other theories.

Cat, on the other hand (or end) states that theory numer uno is that their parents are not been looking for them and donot care, but secretly he wants to find them.

So Cat encourages Dog to set out and find them, using reverse-phsychology and pretends to reluctantly agree.

They have many adventures on their quest to find their parents, searching high and searching low, searching places where the sun don't go (inside a giant sea monster for instance).
