38%on rotten tomatoes? Why?!

It's fantastic movie! Critics are stupid. Does anyting else agree with me? Now they do that same with Brave.

reply

I agree with you 100%! This is a really wonderful film. I implore anyone who's open to watching animated family films to give it a try.

You may like to know that Roger Ebert and Richard Roper both gave it the thumbs up.

reply

It deserves a 10% on rottentomatoes.com It was so miserably SLOW. This was the first movie i fell asleep on.

reply

I don't think that it deserves a 38% rating but I wouldn't go as far as calling it "fantastic". I found it to be a pretty mediocre film. Probably one of the weaker animated movies to be made by Disney. The story was a bit too predictable, the characters were ok, and the songs were ok too. Nothing oustandingly memorable like other Disney movies. The only thing that I found to be brilliant in this movie were the visuals. The superbly painted backgrounds and the light and shade and the whole color palette of the movie was extraordinary.

So i recently rewatched it... and i enjoyed it... So i take back the harsh comments i left few weeks ago about the movie. S/n: i was moved to tears when he had reunited with his brothers and made the choice to go back to being with Koda. *I'm getting emotional now... Excuse me while i cry*

ICE.

I don't get it either - wonderful little family film - much better than brave or Tarzan imho

reply

Agreed. This is probably my favorite Disney movie! It's better than the Lion King in my opinion.

reply

I don't get it either. I loved this film. Critics are stupid. I loved treasure planet as well, and that movie was bombed by critics as well. It's like critics these days have lost sight of magic.

reply

The movie was nominated for the Best Animated Feature Oscar (it lost to Finding Nemo), so it was obviously liked/appreciated by the industry.

Because the music was horrendous and stupidly corny. It sounded like an 1980's pop song/gospel. Just bad bad bad...

Disney music usually bring you into the scenes like... the carpet ride song with Aladdin and Jasmine "A Whole New World" did so much for the story, the scene, and the movie experience. The songs in this movie felt like bad montages.

I loved the film, but I really wish they had taken a different direction with the music.

I'm going to disagree completely with this statement. The "On My Way" segment is probably among my favorite montages in Disney films. Besides, Phil Collins. Enough said.

reply

Sorry, no, the montages made me cringe every time. For me it was the worst of Phil Collins and I usually love his work.

reply

Eh? It's just opinion. Neither of your are "right", and shouldn't argue that you are.

reply

To me it's an okay film on the edge of being very good. It's got great animation, some good characters, fantastic music and some good morals. But it's ultimately weighed down by lame comedy.

Overall from me:
(Out of 4)
Flip of a coin between 2.5/4 and 3/4

Favourite movie of all time: "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan"
