I'd have to say the one with the woman nija fighting all the way
through the show in Fudel Japan. What was the point of that.

i didn`t like "world record", just didn`t apeal to me. i actually liked "beyond", especially the style of animation used.
shareyeah world record was the worst, beyond and matriculated are the best :D

Actually, i didn't like Matriculated either. I just couldn't see any redeeming factor in it, whatsoever. It was kinda boring...
shareyeah, Matriculated was kind of a bad ending for the whole animatrix, might have been better in middle, but the reason it is last is because it was the last one to be completed because the director had more free range than any of the others. it did raise some intresting points about free will though.

Yeah, Second Rennasance definately had the worst story line.
Utterly absurd, over the top, and makes no sense whatsoever.
I liked Beyond -- it had a very distinct fantasy feel too it, even though there wasn't much of a storyline to it.
The best one for me was Detective Story.
I could be baised though, I am a sucker for Cowboy Bebop.
Yeah, it's hard enough to believe the human race would be defeated by a bunch of walking toasters.
shareAnyway The second renaissance is the most interesting part of animatrix... it's almost a prequel for matrix and it's great they made it, this part of story is important for explain what happened before the start of the movie, and I've expected to see it in Matrix (this could be a great introduction or, as in Terminator2, a good sequence who give credibility to the movie).
I think there is no bad plot in animatrix. But "world record" and "beyond" are the most useless clips, but at least they are enjoyable to watch, especially "beyond".

'The Second Renaissance' was my favourite and 'Final Flight of the Osiris' might be my least favourite. I was looking forward to Osiris way too much and I was kind of disappointed in it. The animation was amazing but it just didn't satisfy me the way I thought it would. It's still pretty good though, I enjoyed it all.
shareThe Second Renaissance story both part 1 and 2 were the best. The worst has to be the Matriculated. I just got bored with that story.

shareMy favourite has to be Beyond, I just liked everything about it. But I really liked "Detective Story" and "Kid's Story" as well...I liked the story and loved the animation of these. Though I did also like the fact that the Osiris tranmition featured in the proper film(s) (just like the kid from "Kid's Story").
I really didn't like World record...the style and story were just poor, especially when the coach is shouting at the runner.

I don't think that you have the slightest idea about "style". All the drawing styles in Animatrix are magnificent.
And to all you other people, who don't think that some of the stories CONTRIBUTED to the "message": what message? Haha, I mean, what the heck are you talking about? The stories all have messages in some way and are all related to The Matrix. Okay, maybe "Beyond" didn't have a real story at all but it showed something really cool; a huge flaw in the Matrix. I think it was really awesome to watch.
I'm an artist myself and also draw Matrix-related characters and stories of my own (I don't publish them of course - I'm broke). Though, I understand art and the lines that these artists were using in the Animatrix. I love every single part of these short movies, and they are especially very inspiring.
I understood each story except for the "Matriculated" one...
And i liked each one of them..
They're all awesome, especially World Record, I think Beyond is the worst though. Has no relevant message to contribute.
