Questions about World Record and Kid's Story

World Record: when he woke up in real life, the machine just suppressed him back to sleep. This is different than what happened when Neo first woke up in Matrix 1 - the machine disconnected him and flushed him out as garbage. Why didn't the machine flush out the athlete when he woke up?

Kid's Story: at the end, it looks like Neo and Trinity found the kid's real body. But he didn't swallow the red pill, so how did they find him? Unless they don't actually need the red pill to trace someone, i.e. the red pill is just a useless surrogate only given out of respect to have the person's consent and is otherwise totally not required?

I know this thread is about five years old but it brings up interesting inconsistencies.

I noticed that with Kid's Story, I mean, he killed himself in the Matrix and was able to wake up in the real world, whereas Neo had to take a pill and had a 'team' of people working to get him out.

Also, I noticed that in The Matrix, unplugging someone kills them (like when Switch and Mouse die) but the same logic doesn't apply to unplugging them from a training program?
