GOT IT WRONG AGAIN

again they just made a gory battle movie with lots of patriotism, military music and they just could not tell again what the war was about. they did it WRONG AGAIN. other movies made it wrong, also, Black Hawk Down for example:
what American moviemakers just can't get into their ignorant heads is, that you just can't make a war movie without telling the context! just some subtitles in front and after black hawk down just doesnt teach the average American highschool dude what the fight was about! Same with We Were Soldiers, same with Saving Private Ryan. They are all BATTLE films, not WAR films. because all they show is BATTLE, at the most realistic graphic violence, but the DO NOT TELL WAR. that's the point, and all the patriotism does the rest to make the whole world laugh at people like Jerry Fuckhead Bruckheimer, Randall Wallace and whatever their names are.
Next time anyone makes a war movie, they should tell the audience what's going on. people are sick of watching american "heroes" killing people of other country without getting a chance to see reality, history and sensibility.

why can't those silly american patriot movie makers just stop being gay and make a movie that does not only show real fights, but what was actually the point in Vietnam, what was the point in Somalia, what was the point in Normandy .... The average audience doesn't read history books all day, they should at least TRY to tell what their gory patriotic films are about. not just show the action. show the WHY.

Maybe they don't tell the why because they don't know they "why". And sure as twice two is four, there are more reasons "why" than can be told. I'm sure if they told the "why" you wouldn't agree anyway. Maybe YOU should make a movie about the "why". I'm *sure* it would be a blockbuster.

I have always said that if they made a "real" war movie nobody would watch, it would be too boring. In VN you could go days oe even weeks with out seeing the enemy and then all of sudden the world blows up in your face. A fire fight can last for days but most were just a few hours or even minutes. The VN experience was more then fighting, it was surviving. Humping the hills day after day, the heat and thirst. And the mind numbing fatigue. Wouldn't be much of a movie. As to why, after your first firefight, no one cares,

yeah.

Well said. When you are in the thick of combat or on a combat patrol or taking sniper fire, the last thing you are thinking about is why am I here. That is for later when the shooting stops. In the thick of it you are worried about you and your buddies and getting out alive. That is the reality of war. The rest is politics on the sidelines. Before you have seen the elephant (as they said in the Civil War)you have know idea what it will be like. There are aspects of combat even as a combat veteran I have not experienced, but Black Hawk Down, Saving Private Ryan, and We Were Soldiers are as close as I want to get ever again. I certainly feel like they do the experience justice.

Maybe you need to join the army and go to war yourself, as it looks like you dont know what you are talking about! As for geopolitical history and what war is all about, there is no way a movie could be made about it! Instead, only glimpses and other people's impressions could ever be shown.
As for 'We were Soldiers', to say that Wallace got the movie wrong is just plain ignorance on your own part. Except for dramatization which every combat movie from hollywood has, this movie does show what war is like, as well as what life is like for the american soldier. A soldier trains and trains; then is thrust into combat to fight, NOT for some high idea or some political agenda, but because it is HIS JOB.

In my opinion, for what it's worth, We were soldiers, attempted to portray a feeling, albeit one man's feelings towards a war that couldn't be won, because of Political constraints. Whether you agree or disagree, thats not the point. It a biography of war. The actors are trying to give a personal account, of the charactors they are playing. Go hire the movie, and check out the special features content. Hell they even had dirty uniforms, so the actors didn't have to get down in the mud. i would rather watch movies like We Were Soldiers, and Blackhawk Down, then watch total abominations such as Rambo 1, 2, 3 or anything from "I'll be back", comic relief has no place in this genre. But then i watch the History channel for fact.
