Geography

Positano is a long way from Tuscany,,,But who cares? This movie is about Italy, and yes, the sun, beauty, love and friendship. They could have put in more food as far as I am concerned.
Lane reminded me of Katharine Hepburn in Summertime (1955) although that film takes place in Venice and the character played by Hepburn is a lot more quirky than Lane. I am sure the costume designer watched Summertime very closely ;-) And yes I love Diane's dresses, so fifties!
In Dutch (my native language) they call this type of film a 'niemandalletje" meaning 'a matter of little consequence'.
