Some things I've noticed

After all these years here's what I've noticed watching the film more recently.

* The Tracy and Evie relationship was entirely fake and unrequited. Evie did not like Tracy. She was just looking for a place to live. Tracy on the other hand was obsessed with Evie.

* Which brings me back to my next observation. I believe Evie was afraid to live with her ''cousin'' which was probably her Mother in all honesty. I believe there was someone coming over to her Mother's house (boyfriend etc) who had abused her. Evie was looking for any opportunity out of the environment even if it meant living with a girl from her school who she didn't really like as at least the environment was safe. She dropped Tracy like a stone once she was no longer permitted to stay there.

* ''Javi'' was Evie's boyfriend. She got him to ''pretend'' to be interested in Tracy, even to have sex with her so she would feel more apart of ''the life''. It was clear he wasn't actually attracted to Tracy.

* This all said Evie was an enormous manipulator. Evie influences Tracy's behavior feeding off of Tracy's insecurity. Tracy is willing to do anything extreme hoping to keep and impress what she thnks is her ''friend''. This ruins Tracy's life.

* Tracy is the one to bear the brunt of it all in the end. Evie gets off a little too easy and has the opportunity to move away and start fresh. Tracy is stuck in her same neighbourhood, school and city and has to face the repercussions of her behavior (that was influenced almost entirely by Evie). She must repeat the 7th grade (how humiliating) and doesn't have a friend left at school.
