Such a fantastic film

Watching it again after all these years the critical reviews were as right now as they were then. This is one of the single most realistic films ever produced. ''Thirteen'' as the critics said back then is more like a ''documentary'' than a movie.

Yes there was ''Kids'' back in 1995 using a similar style of film making but there were many moments in Kids where it was apparent those were actors ''acting'' in a movie. The acting in Thirteen is absolutely flawless. I am surprised this movie isn't held in higher regard to this day?

One of the best drama films of 2003s for sure. Loved it.

I found it hard to endure, thanks to the cringy characters and the exhausting camera movement.
Also the story was over the top, main girl goes from nice girl next door to drug abusing slut in 2 weeks max.

Early 2000's L.A with a lower income suburb, bad school distract and minutes from downtown. What do you expect? The environment gave her very easy access to change quickly. It wasn't two weeks, it was over 4-6 months.

"4-6 months" sure thing :D

I always just thought it was child porn written by liberals

That's why you're not allowed to operate heavy machinery, dear.

Good work by Holly Hunter, who does what she can to ground the film, but otherwise I think it’s pretty much insufferable.

And what a cast!
