'Peco' or 'Poco'?

hello all,

what a great film this is, isn't it? you all agree.

now, my question....
All the subtitles in this film spell the heroes name as "Peco", but when he puts his name on the high score table at the arcade, he enters it as "Poco".

anyone know why this is?

If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits 88mph...
You're gonna see some serious sh!t!

reply

he does say poco in the arcade but thats the only time i noticed it too...he alaso says "poco-san" so i think thats his gaming name? but yea his name is peco but he says pco only at the arcade

reply

Peco is his Ping Pong name and when he quits Ping Pong he changes his nickname for gaming...

reply

At the end of the movie, he signed the ball, "Peco". Maybe the scores at the arcade belongs to a different person?

reply

I assumed that it was Peco leaving himself behind and adopting a new identity when he started playing video games instead of table tennis.

That's how I see it.

reply

Definitely this, doesn't he say something along those lines just before we see the high scores?

reply

Ditto

reply

For you it should be "Mr. Peco"

Nice movie!

I am Japanese and watched this movie in Japanese.

I just watched this movie and am happy to
learn so many non Japanese like this movie.

Peko and Poko are famous characters on Japanese candy packages.
(Peko is a girl, and Poko is a boy, but I do not think
this boy girl thing has anything to do with this movie.
They are both very cute and look very similar)

Anyway, you are right. Poko is different from Peko.
He changed his name to Poko
when he decided (at that time) to quit Table Tennis,
he thought he was not same Peko any more
who plays table tennis, so he called
himself Poko who is very similar to Peko
but a different person.
