SO THIS BLACK GRINGO

Denzel washington can walk in the most dangerous streets of mexico, reach the mafia boss brother, destroy everthing and save the day, it just dont work for me.

I think its a bad movie, reminds me commando.

reply

lets remember that this "black gringo" was one of the best former CIA assassins.

reply

Ok, but a 6'4" black gringo in the slums of Mexico would be as unnoticed as a 80-years old lady in a Rage Against the Machine concert.

reply

First of all Denzel is 6'0". Secondly the averatge citizen wasn't looking for Denzel's character, only the crooked organizations were.

reply

I meant, on heels...
Secondly, if you ever been in Mexico, you will know that pure black people are rare in Mexico. If you see a black gringo roaming in a slum, either he is a lost crazy tourist or somebody looking for trouble...
DEA agent, anyone?

reply

First of all, What does that have to do with the movie?
Secondly, for your information, there are Afro-Mexicans in the Costa Chica region of Mexico.

reply

I said "pure black people are rare in Mexico". No "there are not black people in Mexico at all". There is a lot of difference.
Yes, I know there are some settlements with african descendants in Guerrero and Veracruz, but answering your first question: It has a lot to do, since if you see a huge black man roaming in the slums of Mexico City, you could wonder "what's wrong with this picture?", wouldn't you?

reply

Certainl a dark-skinned man would be less noticeable than a white man. White men are a target in Mexico these days.

Maybe because he was using the classic big-fat-beach-party-animal shirt

reply

The height and having clean, pressed clothes is what gives him away.

Spoiler alert for them spoil sports out there! Y'all like spoiled milk, stop crying over it!

reply

Ok CIA assassins can walk in Mexico City destroying everthing, just because He has a Hawaiian shirt?

reply

You're all missing the point: it's not Denzel's skin colour that's the issue. His height makes him literally stand "head and shoulders" above the crowd.

I'm 6'2" and recently visited South America: I felt like a giant while walking the streets surrounded by a small stature population whose heights all seemed to be between 5' and 5'6".
