An unappreciated and misunderstood gem !

I love this movie. I have introduced it to at least 10 other people and all of them have thanked me for it. I've seen it about 20 times and I still laugh my azz off whenever I watch it. I actually own it on DVD - and I never buy DVD's. I only own about 10 or so.

Somehow this movie has gotten a bad reputation. I don't exactly know why. I think it's mostly because it just plain LOOKS stupid. I know I had no interest in watching it at all until I just so happened to stumble upon it one night while flipping through channels. That was about 5 years ago, and I am so happy I gave it a chance ! I had heard of it and seen the posters etc, and I also thought it looked stupid as hell (and yes, it does). I think it just looks so stupid people automatically wrote it off as something which belongs in the same category as a Rob Schneider type of idiot comedy. I think most people also automatically wrote it off because Jamie Kennedy had really turned a bunch of people off with his other stuff, and those who didn't like him REALLY didn't like him.

I also think most people just didn't "get" it. It's actually kinda clever once you've watched it because it's so twisted around. B-rad isn't "acting" in it. He was actually raised by a black nanny, so he thinks of himself as "black". In a stupid kinda way he's somewhat of a legit wigger because he doesn't know any better. All of his friends are typical wiggers, but he isn't "acting" per se. He actually grew up listening to rap all his life, and eating soul food (greens) and what not. So, it's funny as hell that he gets kidnapped by black guys who are TRYING to act black. He's actually legitimately "blacker" than them. They don't yell in the movie theater, but he does. He gets loved at the house party while they get tied up and teased.

Don't get me wrong, it's not like it's some clever cinematic piece. But I do think there's more to it than most people realize. And that's why everyone I introduce it to loves it.

....and it's funny as hell !

Whenever I see it these days I always wonder how crap comedies with Paul Rudd or Adam Sandler can be so successful while this movie bombed.

"Malibu's Most Wanted" is actually a great comedy. No means a masterpiece, but it's a satisfying treat.

Here's a good lesson to the critics: "Don't be hatin'".
