S+M in horror films

Do you think that a touch of S&M makes horror films in general better or worse?

I know it depends on the film and such but we are seeing it now more and more and i was wondering what people think it is doing for our horror films?

Also i don't mean just it being shown for kicks but being part of the Killers MO.

How do I get these ideas? It's like a gift, you know? It's like I can't control it.

is your quote from Drop Dead Gorgeous? Kirsty Alley says it??? hehe

But answer to your question, i think if handled well, S&M in horror movies can work for it rather than against it. If you look at 8MM, while a thriller rather than a horror, it deals with real life theories about Snuff film and the boarderlines between Violence and Sex. As long as people practise violent sex and bondage and all that, then i think there is just cause to show it in films, being it through whatever genre

I found the S&M in this movie really hilarious and enjoyable, I sat through it with a big smile on my face, the whole movie. Being freaked out at first, in the pornoshop with the soft leather cuffs, so adorable.

S&M is done relaly well in Ichi the Killer especially ocnsdiering the whole elemnt of the main plot is S&M...

But I think it can be both good and bad depending on how its used and why....It could get ot the point where its a stereotype for the killer to be into S&M etc which wud wud jsut be annoying but if its actually intergral to the plot then its fine :) as with ne sexual nature in films really....if its unnecessary then its pointless and shudnt be bothered with but if it adds to it and is important thne its good

Tightrope, with Clint Eastwood got it right, S&M is not what most people think it is. There are a lot of "normal" people that are into it, but are conflicted by societies misperception and judgmental attitude towards it. 99% of the time it's in a horror film it's used for exploitation, which is fine for fun times and all that, but not for understanding the real thing.
