Stupid Ending

I liked the first 2/3 of the movie, but after that it started to go downhill. Until the end the movie was original and creepy, oddly romantic and had some really interesting characters. But then it all went downhill at about the time that Lisa found the Nikki post card.

But what was the worst was the lame cliche they killer gets away to kill again ending. I'm pretty sure the police would notice that he had purchased the doll that was found in the dumpster cut up just like his landlord. Also, its not as if this guy was 100% normal at the start of this, I'm sure there would be other evidence in his past that would make the police suspicious.

Also, since when does a cop fire 12 times at a person holding a needle...he didn't even say drop your weapons or anything he just shot her like 12 times, that was a really lame ending to an otherwise interesting movie

I loved it, it blew my mind away how it got twisted around, the killer getting lucky and getting away with it all, the twist really surprised me. sure they could have found that he purchased the doll, but they could have thought that he was tied up while the chick cut up the doll, maybe they thought the chick got jealous over the fact that the guy had a doll, and cut it up. Though certainly any good detective would have been able to realize that something wasn't up, it would have ruined the suprise ending. Though i do have to agree, it was stupid of him to leave that card from niki in the book, and after she found it, it took a completely different direction, that was still good, but different. Anyone smart enough to be as meticulous as he was, would have gotten rid of the card, and it would have been nice to see the shy, loser type guy get with the hot chick, they could have made it work, especially because she seemed to be a bit of a freak herself. perhaps had he told her how infactuated he was with her, and how shy he was, she might have gotten turned on by the doll, and well, it would have made for one hell of a show, the three of them.

I loved the ending, I was wondering how they could possibly finish the movie in a way that would do justice to the rest of it. and in my opinion, it did. Agreed, there was a slight over-reaction on the part of the cop, but other than that it was a good way to end it.

WTF? This movie had a HORRIBLE ending.

*SPOILER*

When that lady got shot by that idiot cop, I'm like, "OKAY!" and switched channels. However, like the original poster, I enjoyed the rest of the movie BEFORE the postcard scene as well.

the ending rocked hahahah the killer gets away!!! You have to remember that the cop was a little off kilter as well.

I liked the ending. To be honest, I'm always tired of the bad guy always getting punished in the end and I thought that this was a nice twist on this cliche.

Well said! I agree. Glad to see somebody gets the picture!!

I thought it was pretty original. I love horror movies about mannequins and dolls. Some people are afraid of clowns. Im uncomfortable around dolls, especially life-size or child-size. haha This one wasn't bad for a b-movie. And the ending was the best part. A great twist. Like a late 60s/early-mid 70s ending. Id like to see a sequel. Maybe a new guy who finds the love doll and continues the obsession.

I am afraid of clowns and the ending part was ok.

For me this was a Friday night rental, to relax after a hectic week at work. The job in this movie made mine look like Paradise. The movie was better than I expected. I liked the psychological twists there were in it, of the guy making Nikki like Lisa, then wanting Lisa to be like Nikki. And how totally wrong the detective got it all. Having the guy win in the end was just the ironic twist that made this movie better than most of its type.

Yes, police are generally taught to know the situation before unloading their guns upon just entering a room. It was a silly and contrived ending.

reply

Yeah. I liked the ending. But seriously, that deus ex with the cop was abit silly. That policeman would not only lose his badge, but also go to jail for several years.

Well, in Australia he would at any rate.
