Holy *beep* Charlie Higson wrote this????

I can't believe this is the same Charlie Higson who starred in and wrote The fast Show. I've been a big fan for years. I saw this movie a few months back, thought it was ok (worth watching) for a B-movie, even if only for it's general *beep*-edupness to the average viewer (or at least imo). I wonder if the novel has more humour to it, seeing as that's what Higson usually writes.

agreed, the first time I saw it I didn't make the connection between this Charlie Higson and Charlie Higson off The Fast Show, it is very surprising. I thought this movie was great, probably gonna become a cult classic. well done charlie

see, i thought the film had some good dry humour. Not too much, but a little bit. I was fearing it would be really stupid humour. Although thats not a reflection on my opinions of higson

I've read Higson's amazing book. Yep there's more dry humor in the novel. Even a scene where Sean buys a James Bond book. But the film lacked some elements that added a lot of depth to Sean's character, mainly a flash back where he watchs a kid drown then takes the dead kids toy, basically it shows he has no morals. I enjoyed the film, and was happy Higson wrote it but it missed out on many excellent elements of the novel. The biggiest ones are, Karrie's character does not die, Sean never talks to her. Instead of recovering at a homeless shelter, Sean is taken to a farm house and recovers and makes a relationship with a nurse who lives there. Also in the book, Baldwin has a brother who also wants Ray out of the picture.

It's a good movie by all means but lacks alot of the tension which the book carried in spades. Like Gordan said, he picked up the book, read alittle of it and put it down for 6 months due to how disturbing it was. Also the book featured a pretty awesome nightclub sequence and a girl Sean hooks up with. By all means if you've seen the movie, check out the book. Also the character of Ray is actually much older in the book, and they replaced the pub sequence and changed it to the golfcoarse for the film for when Ray and Sean first meet. I was hoping it would follow the book down to a T then a sequal could of been possible for such an interesting and complex character of Sean Crawly.

May I recommend "Getting Rid Of Mr. Kitchen" which is another Higson book. Very dark but also extremely funny in places. Would've made a great movie I think, rather than "King Of The Ants" which felt quite cheap and TV-movie like in my opinion...

Anyway; Higson is a genius!

I second that, I think that Getting Rid of Mister Kitchen is probably his best book, either that or Happy Now. Happy Now is probably almost as f ucked up as King of the Ants to be honest. Very good.

I do wish he'd stop writing those damn James Bond novels though so he can get back to his own novel writing.

I thought full whack was better than this. Mr Kitchen was better than them both. Not read Happy Now, as the books seem to be out of print, and I never got round to it. Higson should definately start writing proper books again. Mr Kitchen got excellent reviews....

Wow!!!

I just went on this to see about this fim, which I've had in my room unwatched for months; wondering if it was any good.

You've just given the best reason for watching it.

Being an ant is very much like making love to a beautiful woman. There's lots of legs. A hard shell. And then you and all your friends join in running around looking for sugar until someone pours hot water on you!!!!

Dan! Dan! Dan!! Dan!! Dan! Dan! Dan! Dan! Dan! Dan! Dan! Dan! Dan! Dan!....DAAAAANNNN!!!

I'm just watching it now, not sure what to make of it. Was surprised to see that it was written by Charlie Higson too.
