good or bad movie?

I've only seen the K-9 and K-911. Is PI good?

reply

I've seen the first one and this one and i thought they were all good. Definitely deserved a 7 on imdb not 5's. They were just light hearted films not trying to be anything they weren't, i enjoyed them both but thought this one was better.
Lol they develop[ this two blokes living together relationship where they both go out to score and stuff lol, it made me laugh.

Why does IMDB list his name as Thomas Dooley, when it was Mike Dooley in the first 2. I haven't seen this to see if people call him Thomas.

reply

Well I saw this and yes they did use his first name as Thomas. The thing is, I know in the first movie they used Mike as his first name. I do not recall ever hearing his first name in K-911. I wish someone could explain the difference between K-9 and K-9:PI as to why they changed his first name. Otherwise I have to assume something like his name was Michael Thomas Dooley and when he went in the PI business, he decided to just use his middle name.

I just watched it for the first time last weekend and wasn't very impressed. It had a documentary on it with clips from the first one and even the few seconds they showed were hilarious compared to this one.

I didn't even know there were sequels until I spotted this on the shelf.

I liked it. No, it wasn't a great movie, but it was quite good for what it's supposed to be. A cop, buddy, dog picture.

Belushi is particularly good at playing this type of wisecracking character. And some of the visual jokes were pretty good. I'm not sure I liked the recycled 'crotch bite' scene, but it was OK.

What I appreciated most about the movie though is that there's a genuine feeling of easiness between Dooley and Jerry-Lee. They aren't just partners. Dooley went from an uninitiated user of dogs to a real bona-fide dog owner. Every scene with both in it reflects this too. The movie really captured the canine/human relationship reflected in a long association.

I kind of liked the twist at the end. I was pretty sure Dooley had figured out what his client really wanted or at least that the P.I. assignment wasn't quite on the level. And I fully expected for the "bad guy" to die at the end.

So what happened wasn't what I expected and it wasn't bad either. I also think he ended up with the "right woman" at the end. Something I found myself hoping for.

Not a typical plot push for this type of movie you know? So there were some points in the movie that weren't typical, but they were presented in a very straight forward way. Not pushed; just presented.
