My overall view on Mumblecore in a few words

"Mumblecore movies overall are a lot better in memory than they are to rewatch."

I've seen several of them and I appreciate the organic way the films are made by groups friends for the pure hell of it, but for the most part the films are boring and don't stand up to repeat viewings.

My two favorite Mumblecore films:

MUTURAL APPRECIATION.

THE PUFFY CHAIR.

Although The latter film is probably not really Mumblecore as it has a plot and a hell of a lot more visual scope cinematically.

"Ugly people yacking with bad sound."

And, no, "Puffy Chair" doesn't count, it had structure at least and a certain likeabilty. Which is why the Duplass Brothers have gone on to an actual career and good for them.

And, yes, I live in Austin so I am literally surrounded by this shee-it, ha. If you think THIS movie is bad, you should see the lesser versions that don 't get even this far! It's like Whit Stillman and Noah Baumbach -- except without either's superb craft and storytelling and, yes, heart.

Mumblecore is for filmmakers who want to sit around their one bedroom apartments and smoke pot (the Austin breakfast) and point a camcorder and call it a movie. I cannot wait to get out of here and live in a more commercial market again.
