Book or film

I personally love the film better than the book!
The film made me laugh. The book was too serious for me. Fairy tale films are supposed to be whimsical.
It's a take on a classic story.
What does everyone else think?

Book for me. A lot deeper and just lovely.

Film!!!

Book for sure.

Once upon a time there was a magical place where it never rained. The end.

To me, they are almost two separate things. It's been a while since I've read the book but I remember really loving it. The first time I saw the movie, I was very disappointed, wanting it to be just like the book. It really bugged me how they tried to make Ella into a crusader (ogre rights? Please!) But the more I've watched it (my daughter loves it), the more I've liked it as a completely different entity from the book. It's just kind of sweet.

I agree. I enjoy both works. I just think of them as different stories.

Please don't feed the trolls.

Yeah, I like both for different reasons. The movie was definitely more comedic and included "modern" elements wherever they could, which was somewhat interesting. The book was one of my favorites as a kid; I think I read it three times, and I don't reread books very often. ^.^

Book, 100%

The film was a real slap in the face for me, especially after having such great film interpretations of the LOTR books. It seemed very unfair to have this travesty representing such a wonderful juvenile novel.
