it's a plight as long as people perpetuate the perception, including indignant moanings like this. academic papers, fine as they are, don't instigate social change. ACTION does.
just reject, and live in your fashion, damn the consequences.
Not sure what you mean, exactly. Are you saying that the emasculation of the Asian Male in movies is only perception and does not really exist? Or are you saying the fact that White chicks not dating Asian dudes is only perception? Or both?
Or are you saying that the plight does exist, but people should ignore it or, at least, not draw attention to it? I'm leaning away from this interpretation since the last part of your post seems to call for action.
And yet, I am further confused. Something as small as an academic paper (or maybe you meant this thread) will "perpetuate the perception," yet you call for action. But wouldn't the action also perpetuate the perception? Unless you're talking about some kind of silent and stoic action like all of the Asians pool their resources and flood Hollywood with Asian produced movies where the Asian male is more than the kung fu sidekick.
Since that action is unlikely, Asians will have to resort to protesting or boycotting Hollywood films already out there. This action is, let's face it, just a larger and more public version of the academic paper.
Now, if the action you suggested is in regards to the previous poster talking about how the White chicks won't date Asian dudes, well, I don't what kind of action you're talking about. The only way the Asian dude is gonna score the White chick is when his Comp Sci degree pays off, years later, after he builds and patents the next Super Toaster and Espresso Machine. Once he's loaded and the White chick needs someone to settle her financial worries, then she'll go shopping in China Town.
After all, those Asians are so polite and they're good at math, too.
